The 'Rijnenburgermolen', Hazerswoude-Rijndijk

Does this sound like something McD would offer?  :D)))
'Rijn' = 'Rhine'
'Hazerswoude-Rijndijk' = 'Hah-zurs-wow-duh-Rhine-dike'
It's a fusion of two villages (or hamlets), and 'Rhinedike' is... you guessed it... quite close to the Rhine.  It's the same Rhine that comes all the way from the Swiss Alps and empties into the North Sea.  In the ancient days, rivers functioned as natural barriers between tribal settlements.  When they froze over, though, these tribes would get it into their heads to cross over into the territories of rival groups.  Try to imagine the old barbaric (e.g. Germanic) tribes who crossed the Rhine and other great rivers in search of more spacious 'lebensraüm' ('living room' = 'living space').  Some of them ended up here and settled down.  Others pushed on and crossed the Channel.  Which is why English is a Germanic language, 10000 borrowed (and never returned) French words notwithstanding. ...  Enough of the history lecture!

Very doable weather, with some blue spaces between the constantly moving clouds.  This windmill, though, was Plan A right from the start.  There are really a lot in the area, and I looked more of them up when I got back home, and I already know that there are at least a couple that I'll most likely never get to visit -- mill is standing in a private property, and/or in the middle of a rather inaccessible polder with ditches too wide to jump over.  You might notice the crane in front -- workmen were busy with repairs and maintenance, and one of them wanted me to take his picture while he was at the top.  You can wave back at him in the extra.

Back home, AW had taken a 12-km. walk while I was out.  In the evening, he had his Tuesday evening bridge online, but the Oudenbosch club wants to meet in person again.  Management changed the day to Monday, though, and AW won't be able to make it because he plays live bridge on Mondays here in town.  Partner Wolfgang will need to look for another mate.  They will still play together for regional bridge on Wednesdays.  As for me, time spent with the Zoroastrians and the Burgundians.  A different kind of entertainment, yes.
