Absurd

As the roofers were in full swing today, I decided to keep out of the way and enjoy some 'old photograph therapy'.
I came across this photograph dating back to 2001.
The Department of Transport of the day thought yellow school buses were likely to be a good idea (which they have proved to be) - but some bright spark decided the trial should use genuine American yellow school buses, and so two single decker, 60-seat buses were brought from the US and modified for use in the UK .
Hebden Bridge was chosen as the pilot area (heaven knows why) and the buses were used to transport youngsters attending six rural primary schools in the Hebden Bridge area.
Anyone who is familiar with our area knows the narrow twisty roads that serve our rural areas.  They buses had problems - but the idea did develop but using smaller, more conventional buses.
My extra is of one of the buses travelling to Colden School (nr. Heptonstall) - you will maybe understand my title 'Absurd'.
