Trying not to despair #423

I accompanied my neighbour here. There were pitifully few of us out.
(Six years ago there were over 1,000.)

I had lots of refusals to engage but several good conversations. They strayed into the housing crisis, the climate emergency, the New York floods (with a New Yorker) and whether individuals can make any difference. Yes we can. One person I spoke to is planning to offer space in her home to an Afghan refugee. And those without space can lobby the government to rescue those in most danger, to stop removing Afghans who are already here and to grant residency to more than the 5,000 a year they've so far offered to take.
