We survived August!

Congratulations.

In August, Trump was going to be reinstalled as President. Ascension Day came and went. Later (the 19th) one individual decided to stage his own coup with the claim of a bomb but no one joined him in the attempt.

Wildfires. Hurricane Ida. Flooding. A number of other ghastly things.

Lift a glass. It sucked. We made it.

This morning, the first day of September, was cool. It was genuinely cool, as in you-could-wear-a-sweater cool. It was delicious.

My workplace realized that Covid was incredibly difficult and authorized people to take initiative and promote physical and mental wellness. Two terrific people held a number of events but now one of the two has left for a different part of the agency and the remaining member, for some reason, decided I would be fun.

I think it is because I was Master of Ceremonies at the celebration of the interns and made jokes to a silent audience and had a silly, animated, cartoon background on.

Anyway. We are going to hold a marathon that people can complete, running or walking, over six weeks, and get a prize of a medal made of a shrinky dink.

Shrinky dinks were a plastic paper. You drew and colored on them, cut your creation out, baked it in an oven, and got a small, hard, eternal item to cherish in your childish little hands. They were invented in 1973 and popular in the 80s.

Another thing I like about working at home is I can walk Samuel at lunch on a gorgeous day turning into Autumn.
