AJS

Andy from AJS needs to go to Specsavers and the bank to withdraw £500 to compensate me for the c*ck up in his drawings.

He insisted on arguing that the scale was correct at 1200mm from the ground level to the bottom of the window. He even said, “okay, I accept that the annotated notes say 1275mm, but the drawing on my computer is showing 1200mm”

So, I sent him the picture and he argued that there must be a scaling error when it was printed. I pointed out that all the other measurements were accurate so why would it only apply to this particular part of the drawing, and that the printed drawing came from his office!!

This picture shows the gable end, and apart from the fact that the window sill would have been 400mm above the height of the sink (he said this was quite a normal height, in fact many houses have window sills this distance from the sink), because people might want to stack utensils under the window! By this point I was beginning to lose the will to live!

The real problem lies on the wall facing into the garden, where because of the overall height from the ground to the top of the window would have meant the the window was sitting almost in the overhanging rafters!

Please if anyone has a window that is right up against the ceiling or a window that sits 400mm away from the counter top, I’d be really interested to see how it looks!

His departing words “well the window will fit (albeit tightly into the rafters), and it was up to you to check the sizing before the building was built. Err, I thought that was what I paid you to do!!!

Grrrrrr………………

At least we managed to sort it before the build had gone any further, and thankfully the window is now sitting at the correct height!!
