Music Man

In the past five weeks
it’s happened twice.
He looks out his window,
steps back,
then on come the disco lights
and music starts.
It lasts no more
than half an hour.
He kicks off
with a Welsh male voice choir
and then there’s six or seven minutes
of electronic noise.
Several country songs follow
and finally an instrumental version
of Fulsome Prison,
played on acoustic guitar,
which may, or may not be,
a recording. Possibly
the solitary man who lives there
is a guitarist
and if he is, he’s a good one,
a very good one.
But I know little about him.
His wife cleared off
a couple of years ago.
He wears a cap
and gives his dog
a toilet break
twice a day.
If I do come face to face
with him I’m not sure
what I’ll say.
