Before returning home after a night away, we went for a woodland walk noticing that some of the trees were interesting shapes.  I wonder what pareidolia images you can see in this beech tree with some of its roots exposed. (extra) There were blaeberries (bilberries) which made my fingers purple as I feasted on the juicy fruit and a few red cowberries (mountain cranberries) which taste fairly sour so I left them to the local wildlife. Several trees had fallen with little communities of different plants growing on the stumps and the turning bracken and fungi were reminders that autumn is here.
