Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

We have visitors

At this time of the year adult guillemots Uria aalge are moulting and are flightless for some 4-5 weeks.
They are usually out at sea but a large flock of moulting birds are currently in residence at the mouth of the river Ythan,  feasting on small fish, probably sand eels. It is a great opportunity see see them "flying" through the water at high speed in pursuit of their dinner.
