Faded Beauty, a Mountain Apollo

… with completely white circles at the back of the wings. These are usually orange coloured in our part of the Alps (you can see this colour on the underside of the wings in the extra). Each alpine valley where these rare butterflies live, has slight variations in their colour spots. The Apollo is on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
