Burbo Bank

After the May Blitz in 1941, piles of rubble from bombed buildings were carted to the beach here. I first heard about it 10 years ago, 70 years after the Blitz.

I’ve been back a few times since then. It’s now 80 years since the Blitz. My mum’s been wanting to have a look after I showed here the pictures from that first visit. Now she’s back on Merseyside we took the chance to take her to see.

She was fascinated and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon out. Bonus mooch at a couple of the Antony Gormley statues as well.
