Wet landings

It took two attempts to land back in Inverness this evening. On the first try, the wheels were about to touch down when the pilot put the nose up and threw the throttles open. A couple of minutes later, once we'd returned to a decent height, he came on the tannoy to explain that there was an unexpectedly strong tail wind on landing, and it would require some calculations before trying again. We circled for about 15 minutes and finally landed.

When we got off the plane it was raining, but there was no noticeable wind. I suspect he just found himself touching down slightly further along a shortish and wet runway than he'd planned, and got cold feet!
