Cat + book =

relaxation.

I know this isn't a great photograph, but it's the only one I've taken today (except for a couple others from this position that were worse). And sitting under a cool ceiling fan with a good book and a furry buddy, after getting some work done, is a very good way to end the day.

W. and I celebrated our anniversary with a flood in the basement this morning...the copper pipe to the well's expansion tank has a pinhole leak, as we discovered after the fact. All is cleaned up and drying out, and hopefully the plumbers can come tomorrow. Today being Labor Day, we opted to drain the tank and turn off the water (after filling every pitcher and pan) instead of paying holiday rates - but man, we're all too familiar with pinhole leaks in copper pipes.

On a much less boring note, we went out and had dessert in the middle of the day. Lemon ricotta cheesecake for me, chocolate fudge cake for W. Also taught a piano lesson, took D. to his last shift at Panera, and did a nice neighborly exchange of basil for strawberry starts/runners. And since there's no water, no one has to do the dinner dishes.
