Defending his Territory

Male speckled wood butterfly on look-out duty on a honeysuckle leaf.

Pararge aegeria

This species has really established itself in Fife and I am now seeing them everywhere (I saw 4 today) but the comma butterfly, which also arrived in Fife recently (after over 100 years absence) is still very thin on the ground - I usually see just one or two a year.
