First Dance

Today was a day of great joy, as we celebrated the marriage of Simon and Jennifer. That brings our house down to a slightly better balance of two guys and a girl (but no pizza place), and it's sad to farewell Simon. But not at all sad really because it's very very exciting.

I got to see the relaxation that is male preparation for the wedding, as various groomsmen and others wandered around the house all morning. We all went over the road to church and met up with 350-odd other people to watch the ceremony. Our seats were on the mezzanine, and I had to crane the maxed-zoom camera in between several hats and heads, but there are a few reasonable shots among the blur. I kept coming back to this one though, of the lovely couple at the end of their first dance. I feel like there is a private moment captured here.

The reception was great fun, with good food and fun dancing. I was on a table of complete unknowns - Simon's friends from 'up north', but they were all very nice, and the conversation flowed well over dinner. A group of us from church had been invited to the reception only a couple of weeks ago, so there was a nice group to dance the night away once the eating was all done. The weather was certainly not spring-like, with constant snow all day, but it was very cosy inside Dunston Hall.
