A Surprising Moment Of Calm

After last night's excesses both Sandra & I woke with surprisingly fresh heads this morning.

A long, lazy morning of slow breakfast, was followed by a couple of episodes of Boardwalk Empire, while Sandra lounged about in the bathroom doing lady-pampering stuff. It is fast becoming my all time favourite TV show. I just love it to pieces.

It looks stunning, the cast is phenomenal, the writing is fabulous and the stories being told are jaw-dropingly exciting and engaging. It's also the 1st time I've seen Irish/Irish-American people and their situations portrayed in a way that is not agonisingly clichéd. It's all so refreshing. Just coming to the end of the 3rd series, with the 4th still to look forward to and plough through.

Later in the day we met our good buddies Mike & Mara for lunch and then headed briefly to La Lonja Mercantil in the Roma Norte district of the city. It is a Hipsters paradise of boutique fashion, design, furniture & knick-knackery all located in achingly-cool delapadated, formerly grand, old mansion.

It was terribly busy with the coolest of the cool all vying to be seen as much as anything else. Mike lasted 30 seconds before heading back out, I persisted for a little while in the hope of snapping something interesting. But even the ladies felt suffocated by the uber coolness of it all and we were all out of there within 15 minutes!

It was on the way out that I saw this young kid oblivious to it all and locked into his iPad. Miraculously, the stairs down to the exit cleared for about 3 nanoseconds allowing this uncluttered shot of him. 1 exposure and I was gone.

I really, really like it and made the trip totally worthwhile.

Goodnight all.
