Foxhangers (Saturday 11th September 2021)

While I was on my way to revisit the swan family at Lock 23 I came across this obligingly incautious young heron at Lock 27. Later I caught a glimpse of a kingfisher, the first in a long while. I found the adult swans but not the cygnets, but I was shown a photo of them on a phone showing where they had been on Caen Hill at Lock 31 an hour earlier, so they were alive and well, but had moved on when I reached the spot.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Michael Chapman - Postcards Of Scarborough (1970)
R.I.P. Michael Chapman (24 January 1941, Hunslet, Leeds - 10 September 2021)
"I had an art college education and on a rainy night in 1966 I went into a pub in Cornwall, but I couldn't afford to pay to go in. So I said, I'll tell you what, I don't want to stay outside in the rain, I'll play guitar for half an hour for you. They offered me a job for the rest of the summer and I've been at it ever since." - Michael Chapman
Michael Chapman was regularly played on John Peel programmes. This track from Fully Qualified Survivor was particularly well known at the time as it was included on the Harvest label sampler album Picnic: A Breath Of Fresh Air (which I had at the time).
