Breakfast visit

Commotion and squawking coming from the garden alerted me that something had arrived. The sparrowhawk had not caught anything, but was cruising around before landing on the fence.

The sparrowhawk stayed there for a minute, but was soon off in search of food. I am not sure if it is male or female any ideas?
