COMFORT

I spent most of today feeling tired and headachy and completely unable to work up any enthusiasm or energy to do anything but mope about, trying to keep awake. Eventually I gave up the struggle and went back to bed for a while. By the time I got up it was dark and raining and I decided to make a pan of my go-to comfort food (after toast and marmalade) from a tiny little book I bought decades ago for about 50p in Sainsburys. It's a red lentil dhal with no onions, oil or garlic, some chopped tomato and just a few spices, and takes just over half an hour to make and is really warming, comforting and tasty, and even better the next day. And I could blip the recipe book for Tiny Tuesday while it was cooking.
