Glencoe

Driving back down from Inverness, via Fort William, the snow became obvious again as we entered Glencoe. As ever the place exuded an atmosphere - this is towards the top of the Glen where there was a brief glimpse of the sky and a little sunlight on the snow covered hills.

Once on the moor, the low cloud closed in.

The snow is still lying thickly in Glendaruel but at least there is power where we are. Some of the houses further up have been off in recent days.

SSE have been updating local members about the outages still being experienced in Kintyre & Arran which are very serious. The latest information is that there are 8 ice damaged pylons in Kintyre ( some had 20 tons of ice on them) and many of the roads are still impassable. Some of the pictures show drifts higher than the Land Rovers that are trying to get through.

The teams of linesmen and engineers are doing a fantastic job in very difficult circumstances but there is now real hardship being experienced by those who have had no electricity for more than two days - and sometimes no water or phones either.
