Morning sunlight in York's Rowntree Park

Rowntree Park opened in 1921, to commemorate the cocoa works staff who served in the Great War.

The Rowntree family wanted the park to  “afford many rest and recreation from the turmoil and stress of life, and bring health and happiness to a large number of young lives”.
