Maine Maritime Museum

We did a stop in the beautiful and historic town of Bath on our way home to visit the maritime museum.  It was a splendid collection of Maine maritime history.  Shipbuilding and sailing is part of my family history so I was very interested in seeing this museum.  Lots of interactive displays and beautiful paintings.  The ship's model is of the WyomingWyoming was a wooden six-masted schooner built and completed in 1909 by the firm of Percy & Small in Bath, Maine. With a length of 450 ft from jib-boom tip to spanker boom tip, Wyoming was the largest known wooden ship ever built.  Bath Iron Works still builds ships for the Navy.  During World War II, Bath Iron Works produced a destroyer ever 17 days.  Extra's are a Heron on lobster traps across from my cottage, a sunrise from my deck and a faffed image of three boats.  Wish we had a bit longer Downeast.  Such an stunning area of Maine.
