Bedale Market

It was FA Cup day today which meant a trip up to Darlington with Rick. On the way we stopped at Bedale to do a few geocaches and stumbled across Bedale Saturday market/car boot sale. A browse around antique/bric-a-brac shops or markets seems to have become a new part of the Saturday ritual. The blip shows Rick browsing one of the vinyl stalls.

Bedale looked a lovely market town and we could have spent longer there but we made our way to Darlington, parked at the ground and walked into the town centre picking up a few more geocaches on the way. A visit to the pub (OK, but not brilliant) was followed by pie, peas and gravy in Darlington market which I've included as an extra as I know how much you love these pictures :). Again it was OK but not as good as Farsley or Chorley. Still, we will be back early next year for the league game between the sides so we will do a bit more research next time.

The game itself finished goalless so it is a replay at Chester on Tuesday. There wasn't much action but it was a relief to see them keep a clean sheet for a change. One of the few highlights was when the goalkeeper managed to dislodge the goal net and there was a five minute delay while the net was repaired. In Sunday football style it was left to the Darlington players to fix the problem as the ground staff seemed pretty useless. The repair is the 2nd extra.

Lands End to John O'Groats 1000 Mile Virtual Challenge Update

Day 222  -  Highlands 4.9 miles walked  882.2 miles completed

I've now reached the outskirts of Inverness which I imagine is the last large town on the walk.
