Hare's Foot

A beautiful early morning walk with the spaniel on the South Downs. The vale of Sussex was laid out beneath us under a thick layer of mist while we were walking in perfect September sunshine. I was hoping to see a Clouded Yellow but there weren't any to be found. Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Small White, Meadow Brown, Speckled Wood, Small Copper and a Common Blue isn't a bad haul for the third week of September. My fungi blip today is the very delicate Hare's Foot Inkcap, the mature cap is so fine it wafts in the breeze.
