Birch bark

An interesting morning at Peakirk, discussing the parishes Nature Recovery plans, was followed by a gently restorative walk round Old Sulehay.

Everything feels between seasons - the rides have been mown and the flowers in the quarry are largely over, but there's no sign yet of any fungi or autumn leaf colour.

Birch is the dominant tree in parts of the site, and I find it fascinating at all times of year - today I became engrossed in the intricate patterns on a felled birch log.
