WD No 300 at Wittersham Road

No 300, Frank S Ross, drifts down Wittersham bank with the last service of the day from Bodiam. The fireman is ready with the token for exchange for the section to Rolvenden.

Yes! I was at Wittersham Road signalbox with a trainee. Well, I say a trainee, he’s already a signalman on the Severn Valley Railway at Bridgnorth, Hampton Lode and Bewdley South boxes.

Today was not the most taxing of days, I don’t think it furthered his knowledge and experience very much, one engine in steam, no crossing of trains, large gaps in the service. However, it was a gloriously warm, no hot, day. Amazing for September.

Susan was back at the hospital with another appointment with her mother. Her hearing aid was not working so she was given a new one. They noticed wax in one ear so now another appointment was to be made with the GP to deal with that. And so it goes on.
