The hand of god

We visited Millesgården today. Primary to see the exibition about Stig Lindberg,  one of Sweden's most important postwar designers, Lindberg created whimsical studio ceramics and graceful tableware lines during a long career with the Gustavsberg´s pottery factory.  We took the opportunity to walk around and look at all the marveluse sculptures of Carl Milles in this fantastic place.

The Hand of God is a sculpture created by Carl Milles between 1949 and 1953. The sculpture is raised on a high column. A naked youth balances on the thumb and forefinger of the big hand. He looks up and his body is tense with wide fingers and gesturing arms that symbolize anxiety and delusion while the hand represents God's security.
