A Meandering Life...

Spotting Spotters

After yesterday's visit to Quarry Bank and a night at an airport hotel we visited the Runway Visitors Park at Manchester Airport, the main purpose of our trip. I had heard it was a good place to visit and we were not disappointed. Even better you only pay for parking!

It brought back memories of our visits to Heathrow when they had the observation deck and to Gatwick when watching from the top deck of the carparks wasn't a crime. In truth we had a closer view of the planes on the runway than the others mentioned. Look at the extra, you'll see the wings of an A380 nearly reaches the children's playground!

Also in extras is Concorde. We have now seen Concorde on display at 4 locations, G-BOAC (Alpha Charlie), this one, at Manchester, G-AXDN at IWM Duxford (the fastest to ever fly), G-BDGG at Brooklands Museum (one of 3 that still has a working nose) and G-BSST (002) at Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton. We have seen Concorde in flight many times over the years especially as we once lived under the flight path and stacking routes for Heathrow.
