MY...WHAT A LONG TONGUE YOU HAVE

The Reticulated Giraffe (Giraffa reticulata) is so named because the stripe pattern on its fur is like a network (fish net like)......a reticulum.

Interesting giraffe facts:

Is is the tallest mammal on Earth...15-20 feet (4.6-6.1m).

Its front legs are longer than its hind legs.

It can kill with a kick.

There are only about 9,000 remaining in the wild.

Its tongue may be up to 18 inches (45-46cm) long and can wrap around thorny branches and strip off leaves.

They have beautiful and long eyelashes.

They have the same number of neck bones as you do....seven.

It's neck arteries have valves to stop back flow of blood when its head is dropped to drink. If all that blood rushed to its head it could literally.....blow his mind.

Best in Large.
