DAY 14 - CRETE

We got up early this time with the knowledge it was to beat the heat AND the crowds. Good decision again as 13 coaches…500 people turned up as we left!!!
This time it was to Knossos Palace. On trip advisor someone had moaned it was just rocks…
1.it’s Ancient Greek
2.it was destroyed by an earthquake…what did they expect!?!?!?
It was so much more…
#yes rocks…
#but the sympathetic reconstruction was impressive. The middle picture shows 2 people and you get an idea of the size!!!
#these pithoi are 5ft tall storage jars.
#we spent a few hours on a lovely Sandy beach after our gyros lunch.
#in the evening we went up to the village to a beautiful taverna…with George’s musical accompaniment; very talented. And the food was tasty too.
Afterwards we decided to get a sorbet by the beach but got side tracked by
#waffles and Nutella
#and the entertainment
#I got very comfy in this swinging chair but getting out was rather amusing and very nearly embarrassing:)))))
