The Glover

An interesting, possibly unique, brass on a tombstone at the Church of St Andrew and St Mary in Fletching. This is the tomb, from 1450, of Peter Denot a glove maker. Peter Denot took part in Jack Cade's Rebellion of 1450 against Henry VI. Defeted at the battle of London Bridge, Cade was killed in July 1450 near Lewes. Peter Denot is believed to have been pardoned although his death is also noted as 'circa' 1450.
