The Bum of the Bee

Our wisteria is out and was going to be the subject for Flower Friday but then I saw this unusual creature. 
I assume it's a bee. 
I seem to recall seeing one the same last year on the wisteria but haven't seen one anywhere else. And there was only the one each time.
