Ivy Bee

This plasterer bee was new to science in 1993. It was first recorded in the UK in 2001. As its name suggests, it collects pollen almost exclusively from ivy.

Our honey bees are not native to the UK. They came from southern Europe at the end of the last Ice Age and were domesticated.

Madness at The Brookfield Centre. The Tesco petrol station is slap bang in the middle of it. A huge queue of people wanting to fill up, spooked by news that some stations were running short, meant that those us wanting to shop had to join the queue. I won't go into details as driving stories are boring. Suffice it to say that I stood up to a rude motorist and galvanised others to stick up for their rights.
