I used to take photos of this backpack filled with flowers, sitting on the wall along the prom in Edinburgh. Today I took it with me to St Bart’s Hospital for good luck, along with a Strong Girls Club shirt, a lucky talisman and my serious watch. 

It paid off. The lovely oncologist said that the chemotherapy has worked, the tumour has shrunk and the next step is surgery in about a month or so. 

It’s a relief to have made some progress.
