Shuggie Bain

Soul was here early, and we heard him getting to work at planting out new aloes early doors.

Arnie skipped his usual Saturday tennis in favour of watching the Boks, and taking the truck for it’s pre holiday scrub.

Bookclub was good although it wasn’t my turn to host really but Di is having work done at home so our Lapa was the venue instead.

I had managed 3.5 books since the last Bookclub and this is the current one. Described as a novel of rare and lasting beauty. Not sure if I am still to get to the part that warrants this description as it has been a pretty bleak story so far, set in a pit town on the outskirts of Glasgow in the 80’s where life was tough. Non Scots my find the language interesting, maybe a dictionary of Scottish slang would be useful.
