Aylesbury Prune

Aylesbury was famous in the mid 1800s for its plums, a type of damson, known as Aylesbury Prunes. The extensive growth of these fruits lead to the building of the first railway link from Aylesbury to London in 1839.

The plum trees were almost lost but a fruit growing society, the Mid Shires Orchard Group, has managed to grow some new stock and this is now available from a nursery.
