The view from the other side

It was Doors Open Day and the gates to the nearby Dean Gardens were open. These are private gardens covering an area of around 7 acres along the Water of Leith, normally accessible only by key to those people who live in certain nearby streets and pay an annual subscription. I often walk the public path on the other side of the river between Stockbridge and Dean Village, so it was really interesting to see things from a different angle. The collage shows a couple of views of the Dean Bridge, St Bernard’s Well from the opposite bank and the weir at Dean Village which is not so visible from the other side. The weather was really warm, so we enjoyed a leisurely stroll in the gardens before returning home for a late lunch.

This evening in the park, two Canada geese had had the audacity to return to the pond. At first I thought they weren’t being considered a problem, but Napoleon (boss swan) was soon back on harassment duties, feathers all puffed up, herding them around the pond, while the rest of the family swam around menacingly.
