Wild Asparagus

After good rains, the wild asparagus starts growing; we picked this bunch on the way home from church. Mike fried it with garlic and added it to a pizza we had, perfect.

We both woke feeling quite rough, think I basically had a migraine, so we've not done much except church, and enjoyed eating more simply and vegetarian - which we're not, but almost are at home, I guess. Don't even buy bacon anymore unless we have guests who might want it.

Reflecting on our time in the Azores still. Such a different experience to basically fit in with other people's way of being on holiday - we'd have done it very differently, but the plus side is learning more about Portuguese culture, and definitely worth seeing the place from their point of view. Most of what I knew about the island came from a book I read by an Azorean who emigrated to Lisbon, and then to Canada. The poverty there until fairly recently was terrible, and you still see traces of it, especially in the faces of some you see sitting in doorways.

Gratefuls:
- a quiet day to rest and reflect
- being in church this morning, again, time to reflect...
- feeling better at the end of the day than at the beginning

Knew I'd blipped this before!
