A good idea at the time

A common winter past time is to browse plant catalogues and there are many of them. It is a dangerous activity. It is a bit like going food shopping when you are hungry and always buy more than you intended. Similarly when I look at plant catalogues when it is colourless and cold out there, dreams drive decision making not needs.

It would be good to have some red geraniums in pots on the decking. 12 should do. Then you think of a summer's evening, maybe a barbecue, maybe a t-shirt, definitely a glass of wine and you imagine the geraniums. They are lovely but it's a pity we didn't get some more. So it goes up to 24. Then you think of managing risk and all that could go wrong. And it becomes 36. Then you go to order and, the on-line site points out, for a very few pounds more, you can get very many more plants ...

So late last week 72 geranium plug plants arrived. And there is no way they would survive in the greenhouse in the current weather. So 72 plug plants have been potted out and are now sharing our living space. It is surprising how much room they take up.

Looks like a full decking.

Bet I do something similar next year.
