Great Grandpa

Mikey’s cousin organised a flight in a spitfire for their Grandpa! We all chipped in and those of us that lived close enough made the journey to watch him fly (he trained to fly these during the war and brought along his flight log book to show the other pilots - his last flight was in Saigon in 1945!!) A few people joined him at the airfield in Derby, a few waited on the Dam of ladybower reservoir. We climbed to a viewpoint where we can see the length of the reservoir and wow what an amazing view we had! He was in the plane you can see at the front! The pilots gave us a really good show (at one point we thought they were going to do a loop the loop!!) Everyone around us were really excited as well - we had banners and flags and it was just a really lovely and quite emotional day! What a legend Stewart is!!
