Here Comes the Snake

by Cherry Poppin' Daddies

Had a nice afternoon picking mushrooms, mostly funnel chanterelles or yellowfeet. One of young ladies with us suddenly shrieked in horror having almost stepped on a snake thinking it was an adder. I went out to have a look, and immediately identified the snake to be a harmless grass snake. The yellow "cheeks" are an easy identifier. We departed from the spot and left the poor fellow in peace and quiet.
