Blind Quatrefoils

This building on The Shore in Leith was originally (c.1686) a windmill for making rape-seed oil and then during the Napoleonic wars converted to a signal tower by taking the wooden upper stages off and adding battlements. I assume the blind quatrefoils were put in as aesthetic "militaristic decoration", although you might know better.....
