Monkey Puzzle Tree

When I was 6 or 7, we took the bus into the town centre. My father went off to buy my birthday present. When he returned, "Dad, Dad, Dad, Da-ad, what is it? I said. "A monkey puzzle tree," he said. Well, it wasn't, I knew it wasn't because it was a flattish cardboard box, but I was still a bit disappointed on my birthday.

Many years later I told this story to someone who just happened to have a small monkey puzzle which he happened not to want so it became mine. 10 years later, it has grown.
