En Voyage

I love France! Woke up to a very cold morning and reached down to to turn the heating on before exiting the bed covers for the first time. Sauntered the 100 yds to the local Boulangerie in Marboué and bought 2 huge Pain Raisin more than enough for breakfast and 2 still warm baguettes for lunch. Back on the road we made good progress, though we stopped off a couple of times to enjoy the French interior - this picture taken in Vendôme and the extra I’ll post in a few minutes of a rather fancy lunch table at a truck stop. Traffic became very snarled up around Bordeaux but we enjoyed rolling through the vast expanse of vineyards as we were well and truly in wine country.
Tonight’s stop was in a dedicated ‘Camping Car’ (French for Camper Van) park which advertised water, electric hook up and toilets but we never found the toilets! It was, however situated in a beautiful pine forest so we camped beneath the pine trees and enjoyed the rare view of a full sky of stars. The town is called Hostens and it had a rather good restaurant at which we ate steak frites and some very impressive desserts. Leyna had a tarte with Raspberries, Lime and Lavender and I had a crema brilée which came sans pot and perched on an almond cake. Everything was presented excellently even with edible flower petals and a helping of raspberry sorbet shaped like a piece of fruit with the tart. Walked back in the pitch dark admiring the sky and now turning in to get some sleep before my next drive into Spain.
