Let me set the scene. I’m in St Andrews standing behind the wall at the 17th ‘Road Hole’ on the Old Course, watching the Alfred Dunhill Cup. This is a mixed event with professional and invited amateurs and includes a number of celebrities. I saw sportsmen - cricketer Ian Botham, footballer Richard Gough and boxer Vladimir Klitchko - and musicians - Ronan Keating and Tom Chaplin. Then my wife announced that she had seen something moving at her feet and on looking down we saw this field mouse popping in and out of a hole in the ground against the wall. On watching we saw two others scurrying around beside the wall and the cables lying beside it. Amazing to see with all the buzz of a major event and lots of people around.
