Not-quite Look-alikes

"He looks nothing like me," the black king declaims.
"He is not meant to do so," the white queen explains.
"They're picture cards, sure - but not photographs, see?
This queen's not remotely as pretty as me!"

They're not playing rummy. They're not playing whist.
The chessmen are building a house with a twist,
and as they continue their game, their four guards,
the knights, stand protecting their castle of cards.
