Cross Skigersta Road

I had to pop down (north) to Ness today and I thought that I would share this image with you. The Ness area of Lewis has been described as "one of the populous rural areas in Europe" It defeats me how people think they can define that, but.... Anyway, there are a lot of houses in a relatively small rural area, due almost totally to the fact that this is a crofting community, so succeeding generations have had access to small plots of land to house the next generation. In comparison with the large swathes of the Highland mainland that were "cleared" of people and never re-settled, then this is truly a bustling community. Another sunny day while parts further south struggle with deep snow - not complaining!
