Against the Odds

We had no sooner got set up for our Fungus Day event than the heavens opened, and the heavy rain continued all day. Also, because of COVID we couldn’t go indoors so we spent the day under 2 smallish gazebos. I was astonished that despite this, we had over 70 people turn out! The morning was mostly families and the kids seemed to enjoy the scaled back activities, such as making a fungus fridge magnet and learning how the fungus got its spots. Then they went on the self- guided trail resulting in some very soggy maps. At 1pm, lots more people turned up for Ziggy’s guided walk. So despite the foul weather, the COVID restriction and a dearth of fungi, the event was a roaring success
