Everyday I Write The Book

By Eyecatching

Doubly brave

First of all for painting in public. Shows a lot of confidence. Secondly for painting in the rain. Dedication …

It did chuck it down today.

Having survived the twin traumas of TGR going back to Canada yesterday and Dylan escaping AlCATraz last night (the little minx jumped out of a high window that had been inadvertently left open), we had a restful nocturne and a relatively lazy start. The Dizzle and I met Strider in London for brunch at Balance on Lower Marsh (which could end up a fave place of mine based on two recent visits). Strider and I then walked up to the National Gallery to spend an hour with the impressionists and a selection of Hogarth and Turner.

Scary bloke Hogarth. Only someone with a dark side could paint like that. His six canvasses in the Marriage a la Mode series have everything from adultery to murder and a weird guy with horns in his haircut as well. Human beings don’t come across well. Neither do dogs come to that.

Strider met people at the Royal Opera House for a matinee performance of what sounded like a very weird Czech opera called Jenufa, full of domestic violence and murder. I went clothes shopping in the West End which, rather operatically, did not end well. I gave up after an hour and came home after a good soaking, made more bearable by  a slice of vegan pizza from whole foods in Piccadilly.

Did get quite a nice shot of Nelson on his column ‘though.

TGR got home to Canada safely. Miss her of course. House feels curiously quiet …
