The view from our bedroom

We’re in Stromness, Orkney, for a week. Our first visit and one that we have been planning for a while. We travelled up,by train and spent a night in Edinburgh before catching an early train to Inverness. The onward train was cancelled because of staff sickness, but a 4 hour bus replacement service was put on, which just got us to Thurso before the driver was out of time. From there we caught the ferry at nearby Scrabster, and enjoyed a fairly smooth crossing, notwithstanding wind and swell. By the time we arrived at Stromness it was dark and raining, but that made waking up to this view at dawn all the more exciting.
