The tide’s out

It was a stormy night and the wind hasn’t lessened during the day, bur we had a lovely catch-up with SueJ50 and Terrifo in Barnstaple this morning, albeit far too short.

Afterwards we headed over to Appledore, which used to be a major shipbuilding area, and is on the confluence of the Taw and Torridge rivers, and looks across to Crow Point (where we were yesterday) in one direction and Instow in the other. It’s a surprisingly pretty and colourful village.

Lunch in Instow and a walk on the beach, although the sand was blowing all over the place and it was quite unpleasant.

Back to base for a cup of tea and then we walked over to Barricane beach, which was fairly sheltered, and where we watched the waves building and crashing on the shore. Mesmerising.

This and the first extra were taken from Appledore and the second extra from Instow towards Appledore and the estuary.
